Fishing on the river Vichada

The Vichada River (Río Vichada), one of the largest tributaries of the Orinoco, originates from the confluence of the Planas and Tillava rivers (Colombian territory, Meta Department). Crossing half the country along the border of Colombia's largest reserve, Parque Naturale El Tuparo National Park, the Vichada flows into the Orinoco at the Colombia-Venezuela border. The Vichada is 580 kilometers long. The river channel is winding, quite wide. The current is calm.
Due to the absence of commercial fishing, in the waters of Vichada abundant population of various species of fish, there is a rare species of crocodiles - Orinoksky.
. The Vichada River is one of the most desirable rivers for sport fishing enthusiasts because of the abundance and size of its trophies. Peacock bass up to 11 pounds are caught here. The river is completely free of fishing pressure as the area belongs to the indigenous Indian communities and is protected from the influx of tourists. Only our proposed lodge has a permit to receive fishermen in a group of no more than 8 people and fishing is carried out in specific areas, for which a special permit is obtained.
The proposed tour is designed for a full 7 days of fishing, of which 5 days are dedicated to catching Peacock bass on the river Vichada and two days to catch Payara (vampire fish) on the Orinoco river.
