The whole salmon fishing in Lithuania is focused on the Neman and its tributaries of Neris, Šventoji and jamana. For the grayling we suggest to choose the channel of the main rivers of Lithuania, Neris , Šventoji , Merkys and jamana. Especially known among fly fishermen, the river Merkys.
Trophies: the Baltic salmon (mean weight 10 kg., 20 - 25 kg are caught every season.), sea trout ( average weight 2 kg), grayling, wild brown trout, Chub, Chub.
District fishing: the confluence of the main salmon rivers Neris (Viliya) river and Dūkšta , which is teeming with wild brown trout. All the best fishing spots are within a short drive. Another interesting river for salmon fishing, Šventoji situated little more than half an hour.
Rules of fishing: the possibility of withdrawal of one fish per day.
Fishing equipment and tackle: Permitted salmon fishing is spinning and fly fishing. No worms and live bait. In the fly – dvuruchnikami 12'-14 length and class from # 7 to 10, a floating cord, the understory of different weights. Leashes 0.35-0.40 mm. Special requirements no flies, salmon standard black-and -orange-and-yellow color scheme works here.
For trout and grayling 3-5 grade rod, 8-9 feet long them, that is, 2.40 – 2.70 m. the Floating cord will fit to the great majority of situations on the river. Plus a set of different understory densities. Any flies work here. However, it would be good to have leeches, mallery and other streamers for trout fishing nymphs for grayling. On many rivers there is a significant population of large mayflies, so if you plan on fishing in late may or June, don't forget to bring a handful of large and dense imitations.
In General, as elsewhere, the condition and the level of water determines the nature of the tackle, flies and presentation.
A guide is highly desirable.
