Fishing in Malta

The Maltese archipelago has a perimeter of two hundred kilometers along the coastline and therefore fishing along with beach holidays is what attracts thousands of tourists here. Maltese fish for a dark year, but for sports fishing, we still recommend sticking to the calendar below.
Our partners in Malta are a company that has been organizing sport fishing in these waters for more than 20 years. Our boats are based in the city St. Paul's Bay (malt. San Pawl il-Baar). This is a popular summer holiday destination for Maltese and visitors, preserving its special spirit and located in the north of the island of Malta, 16 km from Valletta.
Fishing techniques
1. Trolling-Game
The main method of fishing in Malta is trolling-a technique in which a series of sea baits is towed behind a boat going at high speed. The most common types of attacking such baits are Albacore tuna and dorado (coryphena, dolphin fish)
2. Abyss Fishing
Fishing at great depths from 200 to 700/800m.  The main trophies with this technique are groupers and red bream (Red Bream).
This method of fishing is carried out all year round, although certain months of the year are more productive than others.
3. Live Bait
Some predatory species, such as amberjack, barracuda, bison are caught in shallow waters around reefs or closer to the shore. At the same time, live bait trolling is used at low speeds.
