Giant Arapaima (Arapaima gigas), or, as it is also called, piraruku - the largest freshwater fish on the planet, its length can reach 3 meters (according to rumors, met specimens of more than 4 meters). The maximum recorded weight of arapaima - 200 kg. Interest arapaima causes not only its size - its appearance resembles some prehistoric monster. Large dense scales with relief surface, consisting of several layers, so dense that the teeth piranha about it just crumble. In natural conditions, arapaima has no enemies. What fisherman would not want to fight with such a rival.
Fishing for arapaima, as well as for other large and strong fish, is exciting and exciting. The bite of the arapaima is powerful and confident, and the resistance to the pull is desperate to the last.
We offer an arapaima fishing tour in the tributaries of the Essequibo River (Guyana's largest river) where the giant arapaima are caught. Tour program
Day 1: Arrival at Cheddi Jagan or Eugene F. Correia International Airport, pick up and transfer to Georgetown. Overnight stay at a Georgetown hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to J. F. Correia International Airport for a one hour flight to Iwokrama airstrip on the Essequibo River, from where local guides will take you by motorboat to a fishing lodge. 1⁄2 days fishing.
Days 3-8: Six full days of fishing. Overnight at the lodge with the option to visit one of the outdoor camps further down the river.
Day 9: Return to Iwokrama airfield for a return flight to J.F. Correia International Airport where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Georgetown. Overnight stay.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport.
Cost includes: All transfers on arrival and departure, overnight accommodation at a hotel in Georgetown for two nights, domestic flights, transportation to the river, meals and drinks (alcohol can be ordered in advance) at camp and while fishing, daily laundry, 6+ days of guided fishing, when double occupancy.

Customer must carry: repellent (we recommend red Gardex, there are midges) better mosquito light, hat, bandana, UV sunscreen, glasses, flashlight, mug, 2 pairs of thin pants, sunscreen, sleeping bag (not thick, at a temperature of +10 - +30, you can with a liner), self-inflating mat (recommended firm Thermorest), boots with felt soles (better on the spikes !!!!!!!), a jacket in case the weather changes or gets colder, germo-bags under your clothes for rafting.
Guests will sleep in the lodge, which has eight rooms with two queen size beds and 24-hour electricity. The lodge is located on the east bank of the Essequibo River near the Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve, surrounded by jungle. Coleman weatherproof tents, set up on the banks of this delightful river under a canopy of trees, are available for avid anglers who may wish to fish the riverbank overnight
